As some of you might know, I (Dave) am taking a trip to Winter Park Colorado for a big MINI Cooper get together. While I haven't been always remembering to use a camera, I have snapped a few photos of my trip so far.
Here is a view of the campground in the Black Hills where I spent Monday night (Sheridan Lake). I was really nice, and I was a super short walk to the water.
Beyond the MINI meet (and yes the new minis are suppose to be spelt with all capitals) one of my goals was to get in some great mountain biking. I had a great ride Monday morning just outside of Bismarck ND. On Tuesday morning I went for a ride in the blackhills to a a great lake that was recommended to me. Well it kicked my butt big time. Apparently this prairie boy is not used to climbing big hills, and isn't used to playing at 6000ft altitude.
Since my ride on Tuesday didn't go the best I figured that I'd see some of the sights of the blackhills. First stop was a town called Hill City.
This shot is looking straight down main street. Notice a fair amount of motorbikes? The giant Sturgis Motorcycle rally starts in a week and the black hills was already swarming with bikers.
Here is a interesting little shop/museum/oddity. This woman holds the record for the number of teddy bears. She has close to 8000 of them. Here is one of the rooms in this house. Imagine a 1200 square foot house packed with teddy bears everywhere. The place was super cool.
Here is my obligatory shot of Mount Rushmore, along with some other views that I was playing with. OK its just Washington in the other two pictures, but I kind of like it (and yes I know that this is the black hills and not the rocky mountains, I still enjoyed the vantage point.
This is a shot of the campground where I stayed Tuesday night; apparently they weren't kidding with the name.
Finally here is a picture from my campground this morning. Apparently my neighbours didn't understand the reason for keeping a cooler locked in a car.
