It's official we are heading to south east Asia in January!

As many of you probably already know I am taking some time off work after Christmas and we as a family will be using some of this time to travel as a family.

So where are we going you might ask?  Well if the title didn't give it away we are heading to Asia for close to 3 months.

We have booked our plane tickets to our first destination, the amazing city of Beijing.  China has a policy that you are allowed to stay for up to 144 hours if you are travelling to either Beijing or Shanghai, stay within certain boundaries and can show them your ticket to leave before the 144 hours are up. 

So we are spending 6 days and close to 140 hours in the greater Beijing area (lets hear it for the Great Wall of China!) before flying off to Hong Kong.

So far we have our plane tickets booked to Beijing and then on to Hong Kong along with a hotel in Beijing, the Prime Hotel Beijing Wangfujing for those of you who care. 

We have also booked our accommodations in Hong Kong. We will be staying at the YHA Mei Ho House.  Yes we are taking our girl to a hostel.  Unlike North America where finding hotels with 2 double or queen beds is the norm, these types of rooms seem to be impossible to find in Beijing and Hong Kong.  Our solution, get a private room for 3 at a hostel.

So, over the next 15 weeks I will updating our progress on this blog.  From getting our shots, to more bookings, to figuring out what exactly we are bringing I plan to document it here.
